Constructed on a plateau overlooking MacMasters Beach on the Central Coast of NSW, this new house has been designed to capture elevated northeast views and retain a mature Coastal Banksia located within the front of the property.
Living areas are located on the upper level and open out to a covered deck positioned to capture north-east views, sun and breeze. Bedrooms and a rumpus room are located on the ground level opening to the rear yard.
A variety of textures and colours have been applied to the exterior of the house to respond to the Banksia tree and to create an informal relaxed beach house reminiscent of traditional 1950’s holiday houses typical to the area.
The house was sold in 2015 and the new owners engaged Pangkarra Garden Design and Arent & Pyke to update the front garden and interior finishes and furniture. In 2019 David Boyle Architect was engaged by the new owners to review the external cladding and collaborate with Pangkarra to design an new garden, pool and cabana in the rear yard. Construction work will be complete in 2020.
